Project Notes: Carlow Arts Festival
The Carlow Arts Festival is a highly anticipated annual celebration of creativity and culture, held in the vibrant town of Carlow, Ireland. As a multidisciplinary festival, it offers an eclectic programme that spans visual arts, theatre, live music, dance, film, literature, and more. Taking place each year in early summer, the festival transforms Carlow into a hub of artistic expression and innovation, drawing both local talent and international performers. It has earned a reputation as a cornerstone of Ireland’s cultural calendar, attracting audiences from across the country and beyond.
In 2018 and 2019, I was entrusted with the exciting challenge of refreshing the branding and identity of the Carlow Arts Festival. The brief was to encapsulate and amplify the essence and energy of the festival’s diverse and vibrant programme. My role involved updating the festival’s branding to create a bold and modern visual identity that reflected its forward-thinking ethos while respecting its rich artistic heritage.
To achieve this, I developed a suite of marketing visuals and promotional materials for both offline and online platforms. These included posters, social media assets, digital advertisements and event guides. The goal was to create a cohesive and visually striking campaign that not only captured the spirit of the festival but also resonated with a broad audience, from dedicated arts enthusiasts to casual visitors.
Working on the Carlow Arts Festival was an inspiring opportunity to contribute to one of Ireland’s most celebrated cultural events. The experience of distilling the festival’s creativity, innovation, and inclusivity into a refreshed visual identity remains a highlight of my career. The resulting campaign was designed to energise and excite audiences, ensuring that the festival’s dynamic offerings were reflected in its branding and outreach.
