Project Notes: Irish Whiskey Association
The Irish Whiskey Association is an all-island trade body representing 49 companies involved in Irish whiskey production across Ireland and Northern Ireland. Its mission is to protect, promote, and support the Irish whiskey sector globally, ensuring its recognition as a leading spirit category. Key activities include safeguarding the geographic indication (GI) status of Irish whiskey, advocating for industry-friendly regulations, supporting sustainable practices, and promoting whiskey tourism through initiatives like the IrishWhiskey360° distillery trail. In 2022, Irish whiskey exports exceeded €1 billion, highlighting its economic significance.
In 2018, I contributed to the Irish Whiskey Association’s social media and print campaigns to raise awareness about the rapid growth of the Irish distillery industry. Using their established branding, I designed a series of maps that visually showcased the industry’s expansion across Ireland, highlighting the increasing number of distilleries and their economic impact. These visuals effectively communicated the story of Irish whiskey’s revival and growth to both domestic and international audiences.
