Project Notes: Pufferfish
Pufferfish is a chilling and introspective play that delves into the dark psyche of Jeffrey Dahmer, exploring the life and mind of one of history’s most infamous serial killers. The title metaphorically represents the facade Dahmer created—appearing harmless while hiding his predatory nature, much like a pufferfish conceals its defenses until threatened. The play navigates his complex relationships, inner turmoil, and the societal failures that allowed his crimes to persist. With its haunting dialogue and unsettling atmosphere, Pufferfish challenges audiences to confront the blurred lines between monstrosity and humanity, leaving them grappling with questions of accountability, empathy, and the roots of evil.
I was commissioned to develop the visual identity for the theatre production Pufferfish, a gripping exploration of the twisted world of Jeffrey Dahmer and its devastating impact on those around him. The challenge was to create a design that bridged the emotional complexity of the characters’ loving relationships with the dark, unsettling atmosphere of Dahmer’s story. I directed and shot the photography for the promotional posters, designed a compelling logo and cohesive branding, and crafted all marketing materials to ensure the production’s impactful presence. This comprehensive approach helped to capture the essence of the show and engage its audience effectively.
